Thackeray Farms has joined Rosebank Farms, Joseph Fields Farm and Our Local Foods as the farmers participating in Farm Fresh Market SC. The Farm Fresh Market of South Carolina is connection Chefs & Farmers in the SC lowcountry by delivering fresh, locally grown produce to Charleston Chefs and their restaurants. Chefs and Restaurants participating include: Kevin Johnson at Rev Foods, Mike Lata at Fig, Sean Brock at McCrady’s, Mark Kohn at Al Di La, Chris Stewart at Glass Onion, Joseph Newton at Med Bistro, and Nico Romo at FISH. Thackeray brings a wealth of experience in lowcountry farming, and increases the supply of produce available for local chefs. Welcome to Sean Thackeray and the team at Thackeray Farms!!

Online Market – Crop Updates

Joseph Fields Farm will now be offering Purslane,Eggplant, Radishes and Collards

New this week from Our Local Foods are Braising Greens, Radishes, and Sweet Potatoes.

Rosebank Farms now will have Chioggia beets, Green beans, Rosemary, Sugar Cane, Dill,  Arugula, a variety of Peas and Butterbeans.

Farmer Training

Lowcountry Local First and the Farm Fresh Market of South Carolina are sponsoring the next in a series of “Farmer Training” Sessions. The topic of this session is Post Harvest Handling which will focus on how items are brought in from the fields, washed, packaged and delivered to customers. This session will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 6pm to 8pm with Maria Baldwin of Our Local Foods conducting the training.
